Bush vs. Kerry: A simple analysis

Bush

Pro
Aggressive Anti-Terrorism policies.
Lower taxes.

Con
Has no international credibility.
No plan to fix Iraq mess.
Expands Gov't like a liberal.
Has not tried to reform Medicare, Social Security, Tax Code, etc.
Betrayed Free Trade with steel tariffs.

Kerry

Pro
Will immediately have international credibility.

Con
Weak Anti-Terrorism policies.
No plan to fix Iraq mess.
Expands Gov't like a liberal (He is a liberal!)
Will not try to reform Medicare, Social Security, Tax code, etc.
Against Free Trade, for Fair Trade (i.e. tariffs that benefit my political supporters.)

So with Bush we will get strong anti-terrorism policies and lower taxes. And with Kerry we get credibility at the UN that he won’t use for strong anti-terrorism policies. And besides this they are both Big Government politicians. How is this election the “most important election of our lifetimes?” There is more of a tweedledee/tweedledum aspect to this election than most of us are willing to admit.

With more than a few reservations, Bush gets my vote.

Comments:
Okay, more than a bit disingenious (please pardon my spelling, I've had more than a few drinks tonight.)

Where to begin? Kerry con-- weak anti-terrorism? Lets just assume that Kerry would like to tolerate terrorism or, to be more fair, wouldn't pursue it aggressively. Do you really think he wouldn't be driven by political neccessity to pursue it at least AS aggresively as Bush? It all reality, he may be driven to pursue it more so to say to the electorate "hey look, I'm not a pussy!!"

Closer to home though, you forgot to mention that a vote for Bush can be taken as a de facto vote for his domestic policy-- and for the direction the Republican party direction in general. A vote against, however, will easily be interpreted as a vote against the current big government leanings of the party. Like you mentioned in a later posting, the only people really excited about Bush are the social conservatives, and, as science has shown us, they are insane.

A vote against Bush would cure the party.

On a lighter note, in reference to your last comment, have you seen the South Park episode where the kids are forced to vote between a Turd Sandwich and a Douche Bag? When one of the kids refuses to vote, after being berated by friends and family for his irresponsibility, Puff Daddy quickly appears and threatens to kill him. Very nice.

Thank God I already voted. Puff Daddy scares me.

The idean that a Bush loss will cure the party is a stretch. OI elaborate on this in a different post.

And it is damn foolish to think that Kerry would be forced to fight terrorism aggressively. It is a clandestine war. It wouldn't be hard to appear aggressive (summits anyone?) and yet not support the vital below the radar operations.

Also, I don't think Kerry hates America, or that he hates the military. I just think that he doesn't take the threat of terrorism seriously enough. And that he overestimates the value of the UN and France.

This was a simple analysis by design. But I thought it was clear that I hate Bush's domestic policy If it was not clear, let me make it clear. I HATE BUSH'S DOMESTIC POLICY!!

You are correct-- Kerry could effectively pretend to fight a war on terror. Why he would do such a thing and not actually pursue it is beyond me, but you're correct-- to a point. Kerry couldn't pretend any longer after another terrorist attack. He knows he becomes political poison as soon as 1) America gets hit again and 2) he is even pereceived as being a "summit" guy vs. an actual war fighter. Bush could probably politically survive a terrorist attack. With Bush, the electorate would look at it as an unavoidable tragedy and get really, really pissed at everyone who wasn't American. Kerry-- No such luck, can't afford it and, as such, would be driven -- if nothing else -- by politics alone to do everything to avoid the next attack.

You "hate" Bush's domestic policy, something that affects you more than foreign policy, and yet you continue to support him? Sounds a little irrational d. eifert.

Speaking of irrationality-- why the fuck vote Republican in Mass. Seriously? Why take time out of your day to cast a meaningless ballot? If you're voting for a close state senate race or some proposition okay, but for national politics? Why waste your time?
