Oh yeah that torture thing.

Just for your edification, my dear reader: anti-torture laws do not protect Americans. You see, if we will not send a hundred volts through a man's testicles, that does not mean that the enemy will not. Ask POWs from Korea, Vietnam, or the first Gulf War. We always get tortured.

Support an anti-torture Bill for moral reasons. Please do not believe it helps me and my brothers and sisters in the military.

Comments:
And I think that that is the point that McCain is making. Not so much to protect us Americans, but for the moral issue.

That being said, Islam is a shame-based religion. They are strong-willed. You do not have to physically toture a muslim to get what you want. Shame them. Works a lot better. But I guess they would claim that shame=torture. Catch 22.

I think you are right about McCain.

"We have no grief for them, but what we are is a nation that upholds values and standards of behavior and treatment of all people, no matter how evil or bad they are. And I think this will help us enormously in winning the war for the hearts and minds of people throughout the world in the War on Terror."

And you're right that shame=torture will be a reality. God forbid, some muslim has to talk to a female soldier in a tee-shirt. I fear this law will give Judges too much room to inhibit interrogators.
